Wonderful experience. Dave Brubeck is the greatest. One of the tracks was damaged on this used CD and the seller, mapleleaf26 immediately refunded the purchase price plus shipping without my having to return the CD. As for the CD musically, it is great if you want low key, relaxed piano music with a hint of jazz.
I consider it so bad that I have only heard it once. Not moving at all. I bought this CD when it was released in 1996. Too quiet for Christmas.
All the tracks are FAR too quiet. Pretty good solo piano Christmas music.The CD, however, is horribly mastered/engineered. If you rip it onto a PC and normalize it to a decent level, it will sound dramatically better.
I understand why after reading the liner notes--Brubeck wanted to do a Christmas album from music he loved as a child, with the whole family around a piano in the parlor. Enjoyable but not as jazzy as I expected. An old-fashioned Christmas.
I love Dave Brubeck's music but this CD didn't do it for me. Sorry Dave, not one of your better works.
